Grass skiing
The new summertime fun on the Maiskogel
Maiskogel Family Mountain makes it possible: effective immediately, Kaprun is one of the first towns in SalzburgerLand to offer a slope for grass skiing during the summer.
In the same spot where alpine skiers slice through the snows in winter, grass skiers can now “carve” down green mountainsides. And a shuttle service is available to get you up to the starting point on the Schaufelberg (very close to the Maisiflitzer). And because the first step is always the hardest, the vibrant team of grass-ski instructors at „Bewegt – die Skischule“ are right there at your side to assist. They’re also the ones who will provide you with the equipment you’ll need on the mountain: aside from the skis themselves, which are generally around 80 to 85 cm in length and look very little like regular alpine skis, you need ski boots, poles, a helmet and, ideally, elbow and knee protectors. Get into some stylish clothes – long pants are a must – and, if you’ve already skied in winter before, or if you’re a good inline skater, then you’re ready to hit the slopes!

The actual movements and technique used in grass-skiing are virtually identical with alpine skiing. Even pro athletes like to take advantage of this particular form of training. But let’s not forget, here on the Maiskogel, it’s all about trying something new, and having lots of fun while you are at it. The hill can also be booked for exclusive use during special events of all kinds.
