"Hill Farm & Alpine Hut" Hiking Tour
The starting point for this hike is the Maiskogel-Am, which is right next to the mountain terminal of the Maiskogel cable car. A flat forestry road leads to the Unterbergalm (ca. 30 min.). After a short break there, a gently ascending forest path takes you in about 20 minutes to the Glocknerblick hut. From the sundeck there you have impressive views of the Grossglockner (elev. 3,798 m) and the highest glacier-topped mountains of the Hohe Tauern range. From the Glocknerblick, make your way gently downhill back to your original starting point at the Maiskogel-Alm. In order to return to the valley, either continue on foot or enjoy a ride on the Maiskogel cable car.
Hike over the Schaufelberg
This hike begins at the middle school in Kaprun, leading initially along the road past the Unteraigen (refreshments available) and Oberaigen farms. As of the Plattengut farm, you can either take the paved path (No. 3) up to the Stangerbauer (refreshment opportunity) or path No. 1 up to the Weissensteinalm (country inn). From the Stangerbauer, take either supply road No. 3 or forest path No.1 up to the Maiskogel-Alm and the Maiskogel cable car, which you can use to ride back down to the valley.
Klammsee/Glocknerblick Hike
The hike begins at he car park next to the valley terminal of the Maiskogel lift. Path No. 17 leads past Klammsee lake. At the trail fork, take path 17a, which takes you past Schneckenreith inn, steadily climbing up to another refreshment opportunity at the Glocknerblick. After a pleasant break, your ride back down on the Maiskogel cable car is only 20 min. away.
"Alexander Enzinger Weg"
Hike from the Maiskogel to the Kitzsteinhorn
From the mountain terminal of the Maiskogel cable car, this path takes you past Glocknerblick inn. Now continuing along the ridgeline, your route leads you along path No.5 into the alpine cirque below the Tristkogel. Now across green meadows through the Grubalmkar to the Krefelder Hütte. From this point you will be able to reach the Alpine Center in about 30 minutes, where you can then ride the cable car back down to the valley. This hike is one of the most beautiful in the Hohe Tauern range.
Maiskogel - Hummersdorf Hike
Start out with a ride up on the Maiskogel cable car. From the mountain terminal, path No. 25 takes you on about a half-hour walk to the Unterbergalm. From here you have beautiful views of Dietersbach Valley and of the Hohe Arche. You will now hike past a traditional alpine hill farm and turn onto path No. 14. After a while this path divides again. Follow path No. 14b, which will bring you to the valley and the Dietlbauer inn. With your batteries recharged and hearty country cooking in your tummy, you can set out on your return hike to Kaprun (along the banks of the Salzach) or hop aboard the Pinzgau Bahn train, itself a popular attraction, for a ride as far as the stop in Fürth/Kaprun.
Maiskogel - Niedernsill Hike
Take a ride up the mountain on the Maiskogel cable car. Path No. 25 takes you past the Unterbergalm. Now on path No. 14a, you will stroll gently downhill along the banks of the Dietersbach. Turn left onto path No. 7, which will lead you back down to the valley and to Niedernsill. Whilst out on this hiking path, you have magnificent views of the Upper Pinzgau Valley. For your return trip to Kaprun, we would recommend riding the Pinzgau Bahn train. From the Fürth/Kaprun stop, a footpath takes you on a walk lasting only about 15 min. back to Kaprun.
High-Alpine Hike - Hohe Arche
Ride up on the Maiskogel cable car. As you pass the Unterbergalm, you will make your way uphill into Dietersbach Valley. The views from atop the 2,453 m-high Grosse Arche are amazing. For this high-alpine hike, you will require sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing.
